Munari Mobile The first in the series of the four Montessori Mobiles, The Munari Mobile is typically offered from birth through two months. The high contrast black and white colors are best seen by infants with newly developing eyesight. This two dimensional mobile gives the newborn's developing eyes something to focus on, and the differing levels of the shapes help their visual development as they focus from Octahedron Mobile The second Montessori Mobile, The Octahedron Mobile, is introduced right around 7 weeks when the newborn is able to perceive the difference in contrast between the bright primary colors. The three-dimensional octahedrons of differing sizes are made from shiny, metallic paper and hung at different lengths with thread. The movement and light created when the objects swing in the natural air current promotes binocularity (the child's two eyes working together), visual tracking, and encourages focus and concentration. Item Number: 048900 • Gobbi Mobile The Gobbi Mobile is the third in the Montessori Mobile series. This mobile is introduced at three months when the infant is able to see the complete color spectrum. It includes five spheres covered in embroidery thread of a single color in graded shades from dark to light. The Gobbi Mobile refines the child's chromatic sense, develops and strengthens their visual discrimination, depth perception, and attention to detail. When hung, the darkest sphere should be closest to the baby's face and the lightest the furthest away. This mobile has 4 figures resembling an abstract human form with the head, arms and legs suspended individually on thin thread. The material used is lightweight paper with a shiny or iridescent finish - this enables the figures to 'dance' in the natural airflow and catch the light at different angles.
